COMPARTES CHOCOLATIER. You can't even begin to imagine the flavors.

LOCATION ★★★★

Compartes Chocolatier is one of the trendiest chocolate shops in LA. Although the chocolatier was founded in 1950, this shop is far beyond your average, outdated chocolate shop. The gourmet chocolates are hand made from scratch daily and packaged to perfection. Needless to say, the chocolate bars are visually stunning and absolutely unique. Be prepared to spend plenty of time debating over which flavors to try (and it wasn't hard to pass over the vegan kale bar ... sorry). And yes, customizable candy bars are available on the website. You can find this cute little shop in Brentwood as well as the new Century City mall location!

- AESTHETIC -

Honestly, you don't even know where to look first when you enter this colorful chocolate shop. And the overwhelming chocolate aroma makes it difficult to control yourself. The large variety of chocolate bars and truffles are aligned from floor to ceiling on every wall. We love the chocolate-making view room decorated with an adorable neon "Chocolate is art" sign.

- CHOCOLATE -

Okay, this is the most important part of the review. Imagine a modern day Willy Wonka chocolate bar. We are talking about some seriously unimaginable flavors including strawberry shortcake, cereal bowl, the night cap (dark chocolate and whiskey) and even a crackling rock candy bar. Prepare to be amazed. The chocolate is absolutely delicious and honestly some of the best chocolate we have ever had. Compartes also partnered with the interior designer Kelly Wearstler to release many exclusive flavors in the cutest packaging (I mean what do you expect?). Major props to whoever creates the graphics for the packaging because we were literally blown away. Every candy bar is perfectly branded with a kitschy name and complimenting graphic.

- NEGATIVES -

Well, how negative can buying and eating chocolate be? Other than the fact that there are some obvious consequences to our actions. The only real negative here is the price. I mean we are talking steep, but this is typical for premium chocolate. And let's all be honest, Hershey's bars just don't cut it. So price - the standard chocolate bars are $9.95 each and limited edition Kelly Wearstler bars are $12.95 each.
