BREAK ROOM 86. Perfect spot to break dance with a group of friends.

CROWD ★★☆☆

Break Room 86 is another cool a** venue brought to you by the Houston Brother's - owners of Davey Wayne's, No Vacancy, and Harvard & Stone. Break Room is an 80s-themed bar that features karaoke, live break dance shows and 80s-music. Located in the Line Hotel in Koreatown, this is the perfect bar to come chill with a group of friends and break dance to some Michael Jackson and Madonna. If you're not with a group of friends, expect to spend your night admiring the 80s props and live shows, but then ending up slightly annoyed by the wild groups of people who are overly self-consumed and obnoxious. (Excuse me, move out of my way. I'm trying to walk here. )

- THE VENUE -

The Houston Brothers succeeded once again at designing a fun, retro themed bar. This time, they brought us Break Room 86, a venue that makes you feel like you're actually back in the 80s. You enter through a vending machine - which is super cool! There are so many various aspects of the interior design, making this bar perfect for selfies (we know this is ultimately what every person worries about lol). Be it the wall of tapes, video games, telephone booth, lockers or old tv monitors - there is an aesthetic for every picture. We also LOVE the private karaoke rooms so you and your friends can go belt out your favorite 80s tunes. What a fun concept! This entertainment doesn't come cheap though; groups of four people or more can rent a karaoke room starting at $150 an hour.

- CROWD -

Everyone is in their own world. Clearly this is the spot where people come religiously with their group of friends to break down to the music. Okay, so this isn't our favorite crowd tbh. It's a bit rowdy. People reek of liquor and cigarettes and a lot of people are over the top f***ed up! Also, the venue is always overpacked, stuffy and they definitely need to be more selective with the crowd (lol, sorry not sorry). The crowd is mostly people in their late 20s and 30s . . . and a few older creeps.

- THE SHOWS -

There are so many different shows that happen every night at Break Room 86. Our personal favorite is the Michael Jackson break dance show. We love that MJ makes a special appearance, even though he's a bit creepy. (Yes, we had to shake his hand and were slightly frightened.) The shows differ every night and any show is entertaining, high energy and a perfect way to break up the night.

Overall, Break Room 86 is one of our favorite venues in regards to interior design and music - even better than Good Time's at Davey Wayne's. However, we never have that amazing of a night here and always end up leaving a bit bored and disappointed because of the mediocre crowd. This is the type of venue to come enjoy your time with a group of friends. Do not come here with one other friend and expect to mingle (as we have done) . . . it's just not going to happen.
