Good Times at Davey Wayne's… Literally Good Times! We don’t think we have ever had a bad night here. Honestly, we can’t say enough about all of the nightlife venues owned by the Houston brothers; they all transport you to a different (and better) world. If you are looking for a loungey vibe with good music, good people and somewhere you can get your groove on this is the place. This 70's themed bar is one of the best places in LA to mingle with an eclectic group - young and old, hip and well... not so hip, people who are doing big things and people who think they are doing big things. We even just enjoy people watching. Personally, we love when Akira the Don dj's. He has the best energy and plays a diverse mix of tunes. He loves to incorporate old school funk music, 90s hip-hop, and everything in between. Come on who doesn't love to jam to a little Michael Jackson, Heatwave, and Vanilla Ice. Every time a song comes on we literally scream “We love this song." We aren't kidding... every single time.
- AESTHETIC -
Right away you feel like you have been transported to a different era. The entrance to this place is rad, to say the very least. We don't want to ruin the surprise for those who haven't been, but let's just say we have a love/hate relationship with dirty fridges. The inside is just as rad, resembling a '70s home. There is a cozy stone fire place with couch seating and wood paneled walls. We also love the old school records, vintage soda cans, and other retro accents placed through out. The outside patio has hammock seating and a small bar set up inside a trailer. I mean you honestly think you’re at a 1970's house party.
- DRINKS AND FOOD -
The drinks are well-priced and the bartenders are awesome. Also, because there are two bars, you never have to wait too long to get a drink. No need to spend half your night crowded around the bar, vying for the bartender's attention. And if you’re hungry, which we know you will be after a night of drinking, they have a great little BBQ pit on the patio.
- BEST NIGHTS - Okay, so when are the best nights to go? Thursday and Sunday nights. Actually any day is great, but for whatever reason we especially love the crowd these nights. Also, Davey's is great for when you're in the mood for a more laid-back night spent with friends or when you want to mingle and have quirky conversations with interesting people. Don't expect to come here and violently dance in a large crowd. They may just displace you to the neighboring nightclub - Argyle.
- EVERYTHING IT'S NOT - We are definitely old souls so we love it here. But if you are looking for a bougie spot or one that plays today’s top 50 hit songs, this is not the place for you. Let’s just talk about a few things that bother us because obviously there is always something. On Fridays and Saturdays, if you arrive any time after 10:00 p.m. you will wait in a line. We promise though, it's worth the wait. And if there isn't a line, it probably isn't as good of a night. Also, upon entering, please note the area to the right that has absolutely no aesthetic. I mean it honestly looks like the creepy hook up corner. No thanks! Oh... and we can definitely do without the random whiffs of food. I want to eat the BBQ food outside not smell it on the dance floor inside.
Overall, Davey Wayne's is totally a good time and a refreshing, cool nightlife venue in Hollywood, an area typically saturated with outdated clubs. See you there this weekend! You can catch us boogying to our favorite tunes.
